One Organisation

Following the reviews of the criminal records regime and the Vetting and Barring Scheme, which was reported earlier this year (2011), the CRB is now planning for the introduction of a number of significant changes to the way we operate, and to the delivery of the services they offer. One of the biggest changes will be their part in the formation of a new organisation to be known as the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The DBS will be created from the merger between the CRB and the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA), and it will be a Non-Departmental Public Body.

The transition to the new organisation is not anticipated to impact on the day-to-day delivery of criminal record certificates by the CRB, and we will keep you informed of further news on the DBS as the project develops.
