CRB website convergence

We would like to make you aware of some significant changes to the way that customers access online information about the CRB. The intention is that from 31 March 2011 the online guidance and information that you currently access at www.crb.homeoffice.gov.uk  will be moving to three different locations:

  • www.direct.gov.uk– will be for CRB applicants and the general public with  information on how and when to apply for a CRB check.
  • www.businesslink.gov.uk – will provide information and services for Registered Bodies and other organisations using the CRB service.
  • www.homeoffice.gov.uk– will provide corporate information for particular interest groups and partners.

These changes are a result of the Cabinet Office announcement, made towards the end of last year, which declared the Government’s intention to reduce the number of websites across Government with the aim of providing further cost savings and establishing a central source of Government information for different audiences.

We expect that as well as cost savings, the changes will bring several benefits including:

  • Improved communication with CRB applicants;
  • A more joined up approach with the Home Office; and
  • Easier access for the public and corporate partners to the latest information.

To help you adjust to the new online service provision, in future editions of CRB News, we will provide you with additional guidance and ensure that you can continue to obtain the information that you require quickly and easily.
